We reported back to the Baby House at 10:00 this morning. When we got there, Cam had already had his breakfast and was hanging out in the communal playpen. He had a very pretty white shirt with pink ruffles and some pink footed pants on. We swung into action and made him look boyish right away. (Cousin Emily, please note the onesie he’s wearing!) We’ll have to get pics of him in Baby House clothes at some point, but it didn’t happen today. He greeted Buffy right away with a big spit-up all down her right sleeve and arm (welcome to motherhood, right?). Nastia said that they have a saying in Kaz, that if a baby spits up on you, you’ll be invited to his wedding. That’s a good sign, right?
He was glad to see us and was most unhappy when we laid him down to change his diaper. Not sure if that was due to a diaper rash he seems to have acquired or if it was because we weren’t there yesterday afternoon and he wanted to be held. Another woman whose baby is in the same room told us that Cam was beside himself yesterday afternoon when we didn’t show up. That broke our hearts. So, we spent a lot of time snuggling this morning. He also worked on his crawling position and did a lot of standing accompanied by bouncing and dancing. We are amazed at how alert he is and how serious he is. He does enjoy raspberries though (the noise, don’t know about the fruit) and he likes being kissed on the cheeks.
We went to a place called Bon Appetit for lunch today with our travel partners, Tom and Kathy, as well as our translators. The food was pretty good. Buffy had some kind of semi-spicy chicken dish with cooked veggies and rice. Brent had a marinated beefsteak with cheese and fruit on top. All in all, not a bad experience.
We went back to the Baby House at 2 for the second round and Cam had been fed when we got there. We spent some time outside and used the stroller. So far, he’s not a big fan of the stroller, but he does seem to like the Snugli (the front carrier thingy). He also is definitely teething. He got hold of Buffy’s thumb this morning and Brent’s index finger this afternoon and really chewed on them. New teeth are sharp (as we learned from Jake-dog 6 years ago)!!
A loud thunderstorm came through last night, but it was a beautiful day today. We’ll be eating in for dinner and perhaps watching another DVD, assuming we can keep our eyes open. Keep the emails coming, we love hearing from everyone. It really helps to prevent homesickness!!
Paka, paka!
