Attorney Appointment, Yes on a Sunday!

We got up extra early this morning (okay, 7:30 instead of 8:00) to meet with the attorney that will represent us in court. His name is Zagadat (certainly this is misspelled, but it’s the best we can do) and he’s all business. He told us what to expect in court and how to act / react. Buffy took copious notes so that we remember everything when we finally get there at the end of the month. He also looked through our photo album and picked out the pictures that he will present to the court. After about 45 minutes, we were done and on our way to the Baby House.

Cam had just gotten up and they had put him in the communal playpen. He was screaming his head off in displeasure and we could hear him before we even got into the room. We came to his rescue and changed and fed him. Spent the whole time indoors and played on the floor and also had about 10 minutes in the walker. He’s really thinking about crawling. We did tell him that we wouldn’t be back until tomorrow – and on some level we think he understood because he was quite unhappy when we put him in his crib for naptime. Hopefully, he won’t be too miserable this afternoon when he sees the parents from the other agencies there with their kids.

We’re both fighting off the beginning of a cold. We’ve been taking the Airborne religiously, but it would appear that some of the kiddy cough crud has crept into our throats. We’re going to take a nap and see where the day leads us. The crash of the Siberian Air plane is big news (as you might imagine) and it sounds like many of the people on the plane were children.

For those that have asked, here’s a brief synopsis of the day:

8:00 a.m. – Get up and Buffy showers. Usually we’re up before this and we make futile attempts to get on the internet, always hopeful that today’s the day that it’s different. We also eat some sort of breakfast – usually bread and jam (or peanut butter in Brent’s case). Brent figured out how to make toast in a skillet on the hotplate that serves as our stove, so sometimes we splurge and make toast.

9:00 a.m. – Usually the hot water tank (maybe 10 gallons) has recovered sufficiently for Brent to shower with warm water, so he takes the plunge. Meanwhile, Buffy gets Cam’s clothes, diapers, etc. ready to go and usually has time for a couple of games of Solitaire (glad we brought the cards). More futile attempts to get on the internet.

9:45 a.m. – Natasha and Nastia pick us up and we’re off to the Baby House. It’s usually a fairly quick drive, though on some days, the roads are under construction and Natasha has to be creative in getting us there.

10:00 a.m. – Go visit the boy!!

12:00 p.m. – Go to lunch. Sometimes just with Nastia and sometimes with our travel partners from WPA and their interpreter too. Hang out, shop, walk around.

2:00 p.m. – Visit number 2 to the Baby House.

4:00 p.m. – Head home and jump on the internet (our window is usually between 4 and 6 p.m.).

After 5: Things are up for grabs. We sometimes run to the grocery across the street, go for a walk, make dinner, watch BBC World or EuroNews (more futile attempts to get on the internet). Buffy also enjoys watching the channels we found from Spain. We’ve only watched one DVD thus far, but surely, we’ll be doing more of that in the days to come.

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Very happy to see Cam and read about your adventure. Cam's a cutie. Meghna calls him "Seiko" and has named her Panda bear Seiko.

Take care,
Meghna, Joyce and Ramesh
