Teething is no fun!

We were awakened this morning at 3:45 to the sounds of our little guy crying out in pain - since he's sleeping 3 feet from us, it was hard to ignore. So, we went through the checklist:
Does he need comfort? (no), Does he need a new diaper? (yes), All better? (no), Is he hungry? (yes), All better? (no) How about some infant Tylenol? (yes), All better? (sorta) By about 4:30 or so he had calmed down and was sleeping on his daddy. Unfortunately, Mommy did not have the same luck (though her teeth didn't hurt), so she got up and was finally able to post the blog update!!

The day kind of continued in that vein. The upper teeth are really bothering him, so we hold out as best we can and then succumb to the Tylenol. The baby orajel doesn't always work (like when he refuses to open his mouth and won't let you near it) and he doesn't care to put the cold damp cloth or the cold lobster teether in his mouth for more than a second or two. He was beside himself at dinner and didn't eat nearly what he usually does and kept shaking his head no, so we gave it a good try, but eventually gave up.

This evening, we met our travel partners and another family (from France) in the park and took a stroll around the lake and then stopped at a cafe for beer, bread and pork shaslyk (Kaz shish-ka-bob). We didn't order the shaslyk, as we'd already had dinner at home, but we did taste it and it was pretty good. We tried a Baltika beer (#5) - we've been drinking the local brew - and they served it very cold, so it was quite refreshing. Cam enjoyed some veggie and fruit puffs (thanks Kev and Wendy) and he also ate some tiny morsels of bread which kept him occupied and happy.

Here's to a quiet night and fewer teeth problems tomorrow!!

Update: There was no quiet night. He was up at 1 and 5:30. This time, the orajel worked though! Dastardly teeth!
