After our wacky day yesterday (with the baby house party), we are beginning to get Cam on a schedule, and he is responding pretty well. He is more tolerant of our dietary faux pas, and after consulting with other Karaganda parents, our relatives, et al, we are not as worried that he doesn’t care for juices. We are working out the nap/eat/play/poop/nap timeline more successfully for all involved. After traumatizing him Monday with his first full body bath ever (in a yellow inflatable turtle bath, no less), Buff’s dad suggested leaving out the inflatable turtle yesterday and today so he could get used to it. Yesterday, it was an unpopular addition to his colorful pile of baby things; but today, he warmed up nicely, beating it with other toys until he was satisfied he was again alpha of the toy brigade. Buffy also gave him a tour of our mini-bathroom in case that was also part of what freaked him out – heck, it freaks us out, albeit for different reasons! Bath went better tonight, but more warming up is in his future. Perhaps tomorrow we’ll put some water in it and let him splash a little, no bath.

We met our travel partners in the big Central Park today, and did a lap around the lake. Even though it was a Wednesday, the park had a decent number of kids and adults in attendance, and the ferris wheel and whirl-a-wheel were going great guns, and it was a cloudless, breezy, glorious day. The cotton candy was, again, just like home… only 50 tenge today, folks (about 45 cents), and worth every one.
